The day begins with pick-up from your accommodation at 9:30 a.m., heading about 8 kilometers south of Puerto Natales to Estancia Entre Aperos y Calafates, which will open its doors to share with us an authentic experience of rural life in Chilean Patagonia — a region known for its majestic mountain views, the Almirante Montt Fjord, and its native ñirre forests, calafate shrubs, and diverse flora and fauna. It’s the perfect destination to relax and connect with nature and local culture, while enjoying an experience committed to sustainable and responsible tourism. Upon arrival, we’ll take a walk around the facilities and begin our first activity: a horseback ride lasting approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes to 2 hours through the ranch’s land and native forest. Feel the sense of freedom as you ride along scenic trails in the company of local baqueanos (Patagonian horsemen), encountering native wildlife, sheep, and cattle along the way. To end our day, we’ll witness a unique demonstration of sheepdogs and Chilean horse skills, admiring the incredible teamwork and instinct of these dogs as they herd sheep — a true reflection of their essential role in Patagonian livestock work. We’ll also learn about shearing, one of the most important farm tasks, as well as sheep care and the fascinating process of wool removal.
