Description:
Just 30 minutes from Puerto Natales is located this Natural Monument, where you can visit one of the most important paleontological and arquaeological sites in Patagonia.
We will visit the beautiful viewpoint of the main cave, from where you will get one of the best views of the province, over 350 meters above sea level. We will observe the geological and hydrographic characteristics that speak of the cold regional past, in addition to observing the Patagonian landscape in great plenitude.
After this we will start with our tour of the three caves of the reserve, going first to the smallest one, the so called “Cueva Chica”. To this cavern, interesting for its dimensions, you can access almost to its bottom to see the extraordinary formations drip product between rocks and carbonated sediments.
Visited this cave, we will continue our route this time towards the middle Cave, place where is the oldest dating of the primitive human settlement of Patagonia 12,000 years ago approximately, being one of the most important archaeological sites of the South American cone.
To finally go to the largest and most famous of these, the Cueva del Milodon. This great cavern of 200mts depth, where it was found in the late nineteenth century organic remains of the extinct animal, in the inside it has a large circuit with information panels and a replica in real size for the interest of visitors.
After the tour, we will begin our return to Puerto Natales.
