French Valley Hike

Tours > Parque Nacional Torres del Paine

FRENCH VALLEY:

Torres del Paine National Park was created in 1959 and was named a Biosphere Reserve in 1978 by UNESCO. It is made up of approximately 127,000 hectares and it is the most prestigious and important park in Chile.

The park is known for its flourishing and unique biodiversity. With a great variety of wildlife and native vegetation, Torres del Paine National Park has one of the most diverse ecosystems on the continent.

Due to the glacial history of the region, Chilean Patagonia is home to unique natural formations such as large rivers and lakes including the Paine River, Serrano River, Lake Sarmiento, Lake Pehoe, Lake Nordenskjold and others. All of the water emerges directly from glaciers, which results in beautiful bright colors that amaze everyone!

However, one of the most exquisite places where the natural magnificence and cold volcanic past is embodied is the French Valley where you will be surrounded by huge granite walls and sit in front of Paine Grande’s great hanging glacier. The French Valley is simply a gift of nature!
