Base of the towers hike

Tours > Parque Nacional Torres del Paine

Torres del Paine National Park was created in 1959 and was named a Biosphere Reserve in 1978 by UNESCO. It is made up of approximately 127,000 hectares and it is the most prestigious and important park in Chile.
The park is known for its flourishing and unique biodiversity. With a great variety of wildlife and native vegetation, Torres del Paine National Park has one of the most diverse ecosystems on the continent.
Due to the glacial history of the region, Chilean Patagonia is home to unique natural formations such as large rivers and lakes including the Paine River, Serrano River, Lake Sarmiento, Lake Pehoe, Lake Nordenskjold and others. All of the water emerges directly from glaciers, which results in beautiful bright colors that amaze everyone!

However, one of the most exquisite places where the natural magnificence and cold volcanic past is embodied is in the “Torres del Paine” granite. With a maximum height of 2850 meters, the towers are undoubtedly the main attraction in the park.
The 18KM hike will take you up the Ascencio Valley along the base of the Alimrante Nieto Mountain until you finally reach the base of the towers. You will be rewarded with one of the world’s greatest views of the three granite towers with a large hanging glacier and a beautiful turquoise lagoon.

The hike is approximately seven hours in duration. You will walk through Ascensio Valley that boards the Almirante Nieto Mountain and you will finish with an amazing view of one of the world’s most beautiful landscapes, the three granite towers, “Torres del Paine.”

Pick-up in a private transfer is at 8:00AM from Puerto Natales. You will arrive at the park at approximately 10:00AM and you will immediately begin the hike. You will ascend into the Ascensio Valley walking through thick forests, exploring and searching for wildlife. After approximately four hours you will reach the famous look out at the base of the towers where you will have the opportunity to enjoy one of the best views in the world. Surrounded by the Towers, Almirante Nieto and the Oggioni mountain range, you will be overwhelmed by the beauty of Patagonia.
