King Penguin Park

The King Penguin (Aptenodytes patagonicus) is the second largest penguin after the Emperor Penguin (Aptenodytes forsteri).

The King Penguin is a migratory bird that moves from their nesting grounds found in sub-Antarctic islands to search for food. We know that the penguins have been migrating to the coast of Tierra de Fuego for quite some time. The Selknam found remains of the penguins at many archeological sites. The Selknam named the penguins “Kéj ‘emkenn.”

The King Penguin Park is located in the Bahía Inútil sector of Tierra del Fuego in Chilean Patagonia. More specifically it is located on kilometer 14 of route Y-85 on Block 136, which belongs to the San Clemente ranch.
